Every lab-confirmed case reported to the World Health Organization since 2019. In 2025: 113 confirmed cases and 31 deaths. Brighter cells mean more.

Source: WHO, Human plague, 2019 to 2025 (Table 9). WHO counts deaths among all suspected cases. ND means WHO could not determine Kenya's 2022 confirmed count. DR Congo reported identical suspected and confirmed counts each year. United States: CDC national counts; the U.S. sent no data to WHO for this period, so it is not part of WHO's totals.
Suspected cases only, none confirmed
These countries reported possible plague cases to WHO from 2019 to 2025, but none was confirmed by a lab test. WHO published totals for the whole period, not by year.
| Country | Suspected cases | Confirmed | Deaths reported |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brazil | 8 | 0 | 8 |
| Qatar | 2 | 0 | Not published |
| Saudi Arabia | 2 | 0 | Not published |
| Ecuador | 1 | 0 | Not published |
Brazil reported 8 deaths among its 8 suspected cases. Because none was confirmed as plague, WHO left them out of its plague death rate.
